"Starting a Channel! Good Morning from the Dead of Night!" (チャンネル開設! 真夜中なのにおっはよー! Channeru Kaisetsu! Mayonaka Nanoni Ohhayō!) is the second episode of the Mayonaka Punch anime series. It aired on July 15, 2024.

Summary[]

Masaki begins uploading videos to a new channel with Live, Ichiko, and Fu. However, their meteoric rise to NewTube fame attracts some unwanted attention.

Plot[]

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • When Yuki gets up to try and harm Masaki when she talks back against her order at Live to delete the Chu-Chu Girls channel, the movement can be similar to the Instant Transmission ability from the Dragon Ball Z anime series.

Manga/Anime Differences[]

  • When Masaki offers Ichiko to bite her pinky finger when the latter was in bat form, she instantly bites her finger in the manga, while in the anime, Ichiko took a brief moment of curiosity and then cheerfully thanks Masaki before she bites her finger, which cuts away differently from the manga.
    • Soon while Masaki tosses the bat Ichiko off her pinky finger in the manga, she yanks her off in the anime and threw her towards the grandfather clock instead of up in the air like in the manga, just before Ichiko transforms back into a human.
  • The scene when Masaki arrives and walks up to the Banpai Manor for the first time was omitted in the manga.
  • A few of the Chu-Chu Girls videos featured from the anime are not included in the manga version.
  • The part from the manga where Fū explains to Masaki about Mother was cut from the anime.
  • The sequence with Masaki feeding Yuki garlic paste differs from the manga in the anime, with Yuki clutching her hands on her throat instead of on her face in the manga version, along with her eyes turning into a pink brainwash-esque pattern as seen in the anime. Furthermore, Yuki's "flower garden" trance was longer in the anime.
  • In the manga when Live tells Masaki to delete the Chu-Chu Girls channel to prevent trouble from Mother, Live was standing up. But in the anime, she was sitting on the floor.
  • The sequence of Live sorrowfully thinking about Masaki before going off to her place to make amends was not depicted in the manga.
  • Masaki's reaction upon seeing Live on her window after opening the curtain differs in both the anime and manga versions.
  • When Masaki ultimately invites Live into her home, she was sitting down in the manga while she stood up in the anime.
  • Although Tokage makes a cameo in the end of the manga's second chapter before her debut in the following three chapter, she does not appear in the second episode (depicting the manga's second chapter) at all, though she would appear in the third episode.
